Super Falcons Prepare for International Friendlies Against Algeria
Player Selection Announced
Super Falcons interim head coach Justine Madugu has named a squad of 25 players for two upcoming international friendly matches against Algeria. The matches are set to take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on October 26 and October 29.
This will be the first home friendly for Nigeria’s nine-time African champions since an Invitational Tournament three years ago.
Key Players in the Squad
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie are among the notable names included in the squad. Also called up are Oluwatosin Demehin and Spain-based forward Gift Monday, along with several home-based professionals. The roster features players from the Nigeria women’s team that recently competed in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
Significant Return to Action
These friendly matches represent the Super Falcons’ first regrouping since their participation in the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France this past summer and follow the departure of former coach Randy Waldrum. The team is eager to build momentum and cohesion ahead of future competitions.
Algerian Team Arrival
The Algerian national team is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Wednesday, with both matches receiving approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF). FIFA match officials from Benin Republic will oversee the games, ensuring adherence to international standards.
