Army Chief Urges Troops to Boost Performance for Better Service Delivery

Lt General Lagbaja emphasizes continued training and commitment to national security

Graduation Ceremony at Nigerian Army Training Center

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja, has urged troops across various military operation theatres to improve their performance for enhanced service delivery. This directive was delivered during the graduation ceremony for special forces under “Exercise Restore Hope (7)” at the Nigerian Army Training Center in Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

In his speech, which was delivered by Major General Sani Gambo Mohammed, the Chief of Training at Army Headquarters, Lt General Lagbaja highlighted the importance of consistent training. He explained that the skills and competencies gained by the troops would be critical to their success in the field. The Army Chief’s focus on training aligns with his broader command philosophy, which emphasizes the need for continuous improvement to achieve operational excellence.

Call for High Standards and Dedication

Lt General Lagbaja reminded the graduating troops that the country has high expectations of them as they deploy to various operational theatres across Nigeria. He emphasized that failure to meet these expectations is not an option, expressing confidence that the troops will make a significant impact in tackling security challenges.

“As you move into the various theatres of operation across the country, I am confident that you will contribute positively to national security,” said Lagbaja.

Support from Government and Citizens Key to Success

The Army Chief underscored the ongoing support from both the Nigerian government and the general populace in the fight against various security threats. He assured that with this backing, the Nigerian Army remains well-positioned to continue making progress in the fight against insurgency, banditry, and other criminal activities across the country.

Warning to Criminal Elements

In a stern warning to criminal groups, Lt General Lagbaja urged them to lay down their arms. He stressed that the troops are highly motivated and ready to pursue criminal elements to their enclaves if they fail to surrender.

“The morale of our troops is very high, and they are ready to take the fight to the enemies,” he stated.

Troop Welfare and Firepower Demonstration

The Army Chief also praised the dedication of the graduating troops and assured them of improved welfare packages in recognition of their commitment and sacrifices.

A total of 585 personnel, including 14 officers and 571 soldiers, completed the four-month-long training program. The ceremony concluded with an impressive firepower demonstration by the troops, showcasing their newly acquired skills.

This marks another step in the Nigerian Army’s efforts to maintain high levels of preparedness and professionalism in safeguarding the nation.
