Nigeria’s Interim Coach Prepares for Ghana Matches
Nigeria’s interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has announced plans to expand the Super Eagles squad as they gear up for the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying matches against Ghana. Eguavoen emphasized that the current roster is not final and that additional players will be assessed for potential inclusion.
Ongoing Evaluations and Squad Adjustments
“This isn’t the final squad. We’re still evaluating other players, and we have a large pool to choose from,” Eguavoen explained.
He indicated that changes could occur in the coming week, with some players being added and others potentially dropped. “Our goal is to assemble a formidable team,” he added.
Positive Early Training Sessions
Eguavoen shared his satisfaction with the team’s initial training sessions, highlighting the impressive technical skills displayed by the players. “The players have been impressive, showing great technical ability,” he remarked. However, he acknowledged the need for further development to ensure cohesion among the players, many of whom come from different clubs.
Initial Call-Up and Future Prospects
The interim coach initially called up 35 players to the Super Eagles camp, setting the stage for intense competition as he evaluates talent.
With the CHAN qualifying matches against Ghana on the horizon, Eguavoen is focused on building a well-rounded and unified team ready for the challenges ahead.
