Afrobeat’s sensation Ayra Starr, born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, recently shared why she remains single, citing high standards in dating and a packed schedule that leaves little room for romance.

Ayra Starr on Staying Single: High Standards and No Time for Romance
Reflecting on her decision to stay single, Ayra Starr expressed gratitude for avoiding relationships before her rise to fame. She explained that her dating standards are so high that they would be challenging for most to meet. Now, with a flourishing music career, Starr is too busy to prioritize dating, saying, “I don’t have time for myself, talk less of a boy.”
“I’m so happy I wasn’t really dating before I started music. I didn’t really know what I was missing,” she revealed. “So now that I waited this long to date people, I have very high standards. If it’s gonna be hard to meet it, it’s gonna be bye-bye.”
Facing Criticism Head-On: Ayra Starr’s Advice on Handling Public Opinion
Beyond her thoughts on dating, Ayra Starr spoke on how she handles criticism and the importance of self-confidence. In a separate interview with Dose Society, Starr shared her belief that criticism from others, especially those dealing with their own struggles, shouldn’t affect her.
“What matters less? I think opinions and people’s perceptions of you [don’t matter],” she said, emphasizing that people often have their own hardships, such as financial pressures or personal exhaustion.
Starr encouraged her fans to focus on self-growth and not to dwell on others’ opinions, “Trust me, people are living their lives. Everybody is busy. People are hungry. Stop caring and stop thinking about what people are thinking about you.”
Embracing Self-Acceptance and Resilience
Highlighting the need for resilience and self-acceptance, Ayra Starr advised others to embrace failure as part of their journey to success. She added, “There’s a lot happening in the world, and if you spend your time thinking about what people think about you, you’re just gonna waste time. Do you, find yourself. Be confident in yourself… Don’t be afraid to fail.”
With her empowering words, Ayra Starr continues to inspire fans to prioritize personal growth, self-confidence, and resilience, all while setting high standards and blazing her own path in music.
